Leading to an internationally recognised certificate in English Language, IELTS is a one year course which will provide you with both the necessary linguistic skills to achieve your full potential in your studies and a highly valued entrance qualification for higher education and employment.  Consider IELTS if you're thinking of studying:

You will be focusing on improving the four skills of Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking in preparation for the IELTS exam in May.  The IELTS Academic exam assesses whether you are ready to study or train in an English language academic context.  

  • Listening to interviews, conversations, radio broadcasts, seminars and discussions.
  • Speaking - interviews, presentations and discussions.
  • Reading articles, magazines and internet sources.
  • Writing short reports and essays.
  • Grammar games, revision and practice in class and using the Internet and dedicated IELTS software.

The exam takes place at Surrey University.  The four skills are assessed separately:

Writing: 1 hour

Reading: 1 hour

Listening: 40 minutes

Speaking: 15 minutes

Results are available within 2 weeks.

Entry Requirements

  • This course is for all students whose first language is not English, who require the academic version of the International English Testing System (IELTS) as an entrance requirement for a university course
