Part of the mural at the Scout Hall

Recently seven student representatives from the fine art A level course took part in a voluntary project to help design and decorate a wall within a local Scout Hall in Sand Hill.

They took inspiration from the Scouts’ motto and promise to develop a fantastic feature wall mural for the children to enjoy.

Group Scout Leader Iain ‘Skip’ Roy said, “An immense and heartfelt thank you for the superb work on the mural in our Scout Hall.  I think you’ll agree that it looks amazing, far better than I could ever have hoped for. I would also like to thank the students for looking after our premises whilst they were there, leaving it clean, tidy and secure after each visit. The students are clearly very talented and an asset to the College.”

The students involved in contributing to the group effort were Hannah Stratford, Phoebe Minson, Tobias Cousins, Destiny Trow, Tamara Afonso, Harriet Morris and Apollo Petrova.

Phoebe commented, “It was a wonderful experience and we learnt a lot about working as a team. It was fantastic to compose a piece of art that can be enjoyed by all ages in a setting away from our usual College environment.”

Hannah explained, “I enjoyed the challenge and it was great to see our ideas come together with such success.”

Subject Tutor for fine art, Matt Ward reflected “We are all very proud of the group for offering their time so generously. They worked very hard over many weekends and to see the children’s faces at the grand reveal was priceless!”
