A brand new, state of the art lecture facility for students at the College was officially opened by the MP for Surrey Heath Michael Gove on Friday 14 September 2018.

The 200 seater addition to the site demonstrates the College's ability to adapt quickly and successfully to the changing demands of the education system and national reforms.  It is the latest stage of a campus investment programme exceeding £50 million over the past 20 years; it is named after the outgoing Principal, Simon Jarvis, under whose eight-year tenure many of the development projects have been successfully completed.

Speaking at the opening event which was attended by Leo Docherty, MP for Aldershot along with The Mayor of Rushmoor, Simon commented, ‘It’s been a great honour to have served this College for over 28 years and now to be associated with this wonderful facility.  The building is the product of a brilliant partnership of College staff working closely with a responsive design team to create a flexible, practical resource. 

The Lecture Theatre enables young people to benefit from a space which supports changing pedagogy and patterns of course delivery right across the curriculum.  It will, I’m sure, be used by generations of students, staff and the wider community for many years to come.’

Mr Gove, who is Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, said that he was delighted to be invited to open the lecture theatre.  Reflecting on what the College, now part of The Prospect Trust, hopes to bring to the community, he praised the ambition to provide a modern, forward thinking approach to the education of young people across three counties.
