Over the last two weeks, the Student Association have been busy raising money for local and national charities through themed days.
Pink Day, which took place in early November, is held in support of Frimley Park Hospital’s Breast Care Appeal, which aims to increase awareness and raise money to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. Students raised an amazing £788.80 for the appeal by selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts, which are always popular - so popular in fact that they completely sold out! There were also Breast Cancer Awareness pin badges for sale and students were invited to wear their best pink outfits to College!
Later in November, the Student Association organised a Children in Need Day in support of the national charity which provides grants to projects for children and young people who are disadvantaged. Students enjoyed freshly-made candy floss, popcorn and face painting as well as an E-Sports tournament! There was also a teachers versus students basketball game which was packed with spectators who saw the students crowned the victors! A special mention goes to second year student Matthew Quilliam who raised £28 by premiering his film, starring Curriculum Manager for music, Ben Dowsett, to music students. All these brilliant activities raised a fantastic £308.10 for Children in Need!
Thank you to all the students who donated to these causes – we look forward to supporting even more charities in the future!
