Study Support

Aim

The College is committed to responding flexibly and effectively to students with learning difficulties and disabilities, whenever practicable.

We aim to ensure that access to mainstream courses can be made possible for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.  This is achieved on the basis that adequate funding is available from the Education Funding Agency and that the curriculum is adaptable to provide suitable programmes.

The Study Support team

We have a dedicated team of specialist staff who will work with you to identify, assess and address individual learning needs and arrange appropriate support sessions for those with specific learning difficulties, physical difficulties or sensory impairments.

Please let us know of any requirements as soon as possible, in order that we can support your success.  You can do this at any time, once you have made your decision to join us, including at an Open Day, interview or Information Evening.  We will then arrange for you to have an meeting to discuss the level of support needed, in most cases this will take place during your enrolment in to College.

Where students have a Statement of Special Education Needs or ASD, an invitation  for your interview will be sent during the summer term, prior to starting.  We can also come and visit you at your current school.

You will be welcome to visit the College during a typical day, to get an idea of the environment and this can be arranged via the Study Support team.

We also have a range of technical support available to students including laptops, Chromebooks, digital voice recorders and specialist software.  Any additional specialist aids will be purchased or hired, as necessary.
