Graphics Department
The College seeks to appoint an enthusiastic teacher able to teach Graphic Design in a large and highly successful art and design curriculum area. The Art and Design department has over 750 students studying Fine Art, Photography, Textiles and Graphic Design. There are currently 343 students studying Graphic Design.
Graphic Design is taught by a team of five specialist teachers with technician support in an outstanding department where staff have a mix of vocational and academic experience and qualifications. The department is equipped with industry standard technology - all Graphic classrooms are Apple iMac suites.
Beyond the curriculum, commissions are often worked on by the students, including contributions to national art exhibitions and designs for local schools and businesses. Results are regularly in the top 25% nationally and the students rate the course and the close support they receive from the dedicated team very highly. This highly motivational and aspirational environment ensures that all students, regardless of prior attainment, perform well. Undergraduate progression with those pursuing Graphics as their choice is high, with H.E destinations such as UCA, Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth and Bath Spa regularly featuring amongst the students’ choices.
Graphics is a vibrant, exciting and very contemporary subject where we embrace a full range of technology to help support the students in their studies. Classes are equipped with a range of iMac’s and students also have access to Wacom tablets and the Adobe creative suite. We encourage students to explore a full range of approaches and techniques from typography and illustration to packaging and design . The course is primarily branding focused. We are looking for like-minded professionals excited and invigorated by the subject keen to join a mutually supportive team where resources, ideas and experiences are freely shared to help enrich the lives of all the young people we teach.
“Our A level graphic design department is a dynamic and forward-thinking team of professionals who are passionate about their work. They are not only highly skilled but also dedicated to providing outstanding support to our students. Our ethos is one of teamwork and collaboration, and we work closely together to create an environment where our students can thrive. We believe in staying ahead of the curve in our industry and equipping our students with the latest knowledge and tools to prepare them for their future careers.” (Graphics Teacher)
