The College is once again celebrating success as 2015 proves to be another year for outstanding A-level results at the College. Against a turbulent backdrop of national reform, which has sought to increase the rigour and difficulty of the GCE qualification, students from the College are celebrating – and with good reason.
Principal, Simon Jarvis said, “This year’s A-level results are absolutely exceptional. Once again, our students have been rewarded for all their hard work with brilliant results. With the support and guidance of outstanding teachers, they have been inspired to achieve success in every area of the curriculum: in science, the arts and in the humanities.
Our 98.8% pass rate across 44 subjects is particularly impressive because this is one of the largest sixth form cohorts in the whole country.“
Almost a third of all A-level grades were awarded at the highest grades of either A* or A, with a remarkable 81.3% of A2 taught courses graded A*to C.
Six students have distinguished themselves by receiving four A* grades.
Of the many students who are now able to accept their places at leading universities, Sam Blackwell and Katie Hammond are accepting places at Oxford University to study Physics and Biochemistry respectively. Emily Edwards goes on to read Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge University, Harry Mitchell will study Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, Leila Vickers, Chemistry at Warwick University and Jonathan White, Natural Sciences at Durham University.
Harry Mitchell was thrilled with his results saying, "Farnborough Sixth Form has provided me with two brilliant years of hard work and opportunity, and I am really looking forward to going to Imperial!"
Mr Jarvis commented, “We are all thrilled that these talented young people have such exciting opportunities ahead of them; they will, I’m certain, make their marks in securing this country’s bright future.”
