Last week we opened our doors to over 12,000 guests at our annual Open Evenings. Taking place over three nights, these events offer a chance for us to show our potential applicants what a special place Farnborough Sixth Form College is, and generates a lot of buzz and excitement amongst staff and visitors alike.
Our guests' experience started when they arrived on site with the aid of our fantastic parking attendants before heading to our welcome point to collect a programme for the evening. Our paperless prospectus proved a big hit for its “easy to navigate interface and extensive information”
A highlight of this year was our larger-than-ever Marketplace exhibition. Our sports hall was transformed into a one-stop-shop packed with stands where our guests could find out about the wonderful support beyond the curriculum which is on offer here at Farnborough - our incredibly successful Aspire programme, our dedicated and specialist tutor support, our award-winning Careers team, our extensive physical and mental health and wellbeing provision for our students, and much more besides. It truly was a vibrant hub of activity.
One visitor said “All staff without exception were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable” whilst another praised the students that they had spoken to saying “All of the students we spoke to on the evening were fantastic, engaging, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. A real credit to the College and themselves”
Reflecting on the evening Emma Hobbs, Assistant Principal for Partnerships and Progression said “The College was proud to open its doors and welcome so many future students and their families on site in what was our biggest ever series of open evenings. It was wonderful to showcase the breadth of opportunities The Sixth Form College Farnborough can offer, our strong sense of community, in addition to our excellent teaching, outstanding results and fantastic facilities. A special thanks goes to our wonderful student ambassadors for sharing their insight into life as a student at College and the courses they study and of course to the dedicated staff who worked tirelessly over three nights to ensure the event ran smoothly ”
Principal, Zoe Smallman presented a number of live talks each evening giving visitors a chance to hear a summary of highlights of life at Farnborough including the impressive exam results and facilities - if you missed our Open Days you can find a recorded version of her talk here. “Here at Farnborough Sixth Form College, our College Mission shines through everything that we do, every minute of every day. Here at Farnborough, we achieve excellence by fulfilling our students’ potential and it makes me incredibly proud to be the Principal of such a fantastic and very special College. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to share our wonderful College with our prospective students and their families last week.
