The Freelancer Club Workshop

Matt Dowling from The freelancer Club

We are thrilled to share an exciting initiative that has just launched at our college, a first-of-its-kind partnership with Matt Dowling and The Freelancer Club to inspire and equip our most curious, creative, and fearless entrepreneurial students with the tools to thrive in the world of self-employment.

This groundbreaking Freelancer workshop, led by Matt, brought together over twenty-five students who are freelance-curious and introduced them to the fundamentals of self-employment, side hustles, and entrepreneurial thinking.

Through a practical, engaging session, students gained real-world insights to help them explore, launch, or grow a freelance venture with genuine confidence.

We will be working with the Freelancer Club to further develop this initiative for future year groups, with Matt describing the students he met as very talented and discussing already well conceived and considered ideas for side hustles.

Students also had the opportunity to meet fellow freelancers, discuss practical steps and potential collaborations; with some innovative and exciting projects already in the offing, our students had a chance to meet peers who may have the skills they don’t to support the development of their side hustle.

Our students are already putting their learning into action! Examples of side hustles currently operating include:

  • 1:1 football coaching
  • Car detailing services
  • Grillz customisation
  • Holiday club photography
  • Lighting and sound for events
  • Watch customisation

Ali Kent, Subject Teacher, Business said “We are incredibly proud of the entrepreneurial spirit our students are demonstrating and look forward to supporting them as they continue their freelance journeys.”
