Students with their Oxbridge letters

Students from the College are celebrating at the prospect of studying at two of the world's greatest universities, Oxford and Cambridge. This year 23 students have been offered places, an impressive outcome from applications by students. A total of 10 students were offered a place at Oxford and 13 at Cambridge.

The College has an enviable track record of student progression into prestigious universities. In September 2014, 31% of students from the College went on to study at Russell Group Universities - the 24 leading universities in the country - a tremendous reflection of the high quality of teaching and learning at the College.

Performing well in the league tables, published on 29 January 2015, 93% of students at the College achieved at least 3 A levels at grades A* to E, with 15% gaining A level grades AAB or higher in at least 2 ‘facilitating subjects’ (i.e. Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, History and Languages).

Rosie Barker, who has been offered a place at Lady Margaret College, Oxford to study Physics said “I am very proud and pleased to have gained an offer from Oxford. It is a lovely result from a nerve wracking process! I am very happy that my efforts have paid off. “

Robyn Eveson, who has been offered a place to read Classics at Trinity Hall, Cambridge commented “The feeling of having something like this to show that all the hard work has been worth it, is pretty great!”

Simon Jarvis, College Principal said “The College runs a programme specifically designed for Gifted and Talented students and invites representatives from leading Universities to come in to College and speak to our students throughout the year. We actively encourage students to apply to Oxford and Cambridge and all the top universities both at home and overseas. Our aim is to stretch the aspirations of the young people who study here, challenging all to make the most of their abilities and potential. We are proud of the achievements of these talented young people as they take the next steps in their education”.
