The new Student Association 2015-16
Tuesday 31st March 2015 was the election event of the year at The Sixth Form College Farnborough – the announcement of our new Student Association (SA) for the next academic year, 2015-2016.
The SA is elected by the student body every year and represent the views of our students, as well as organising fundraising events such as RAG Week, and larger events like Fresher’s Fayre. The President and Vice President are also Governors of the College and so attend regular meetings to have a real say on the future direction of the College.
Students nominate themselves for all the roles at the start of the year and then campaign for several weeks, as well as releasing a campaign video. The student body are then asked to vote – this year saw a typically high turnout of voters! The results were announced during lunchtime by Principal Simon Jarvis to a packed Cafe Direct.
Simon commented, “Whether elected or not, it is really encouraging to see so many students wanting to represent their peers and their views to the College community, so well done to all those who took part. Huge congratulations to the newly elected members of the Student Association 2015-2016 – I very much look forward to working with you all. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the current SA for their dedication and hard work throughout this year - you have been brilliant ambassadors for the College.”
