The TES Awards, now in their seventh year, recognise the outstanding contribution to education made by teams and individuals, both within school and in the wider community. The Mathematics Department at the College has been shortlisted in the ‘Maths Teacher or Team of the Year’ category, along with 7 other departments across the country.

The aim of the awards is to recognise excellence and reward the professionalism and flare of those making an outstanding contribution to schools in the maintained and independent sectors. Imaginative maths teaching, examples of innovative work and clear evidence of success is the sum of what the judges are looking for with this particular award.

Andrew Mason, Senior Curriculum Manager for Mathematics, nominated the department for the success of the one year course 'Use of Mathematics'. 32 students, who had achieved D and E grades in their AS Mathematics, studied the entire 'Use of Mathematics' course, which was condensed into one year.

Two students achieved A* grades - there were just 14 A* grades in the whole of the country, 7 earned by our students. 14 students achieved A grades, 10 students secured B grades, 5 students obtained C grades and 1 student received a D grade.

Award winners will be chosen by a distinguished panel of experts and the winners will be revealed at a sparkling awards ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on the evening of Friday 19 June 2015.
