Students at No.10 Downing Street
Even in the build-up to the Summer exams, our students have continued to excel in a number of extra-curricular activities. Below are just some of their remarkable accomplishments.
First year student Rebecca Marshall, who is also the newly elected Publications Officer for the Student Association 2015-2016, has qualified for the Sutton Trust US Programme 2015. She was chosen as one of 150 students from an original pool of over 3,700 initial applicants. The aim of the programme is to give students a taste of life at an American university enabling them to understand all their options for higher education – Rebecca will be attending the MIT Summer School in early August.
AS students Emma Baldry, Dan Warnes, Charlie Flynn and Vicky Waterfield visited No.10 Downing Street as part of the F1 in Schools 'Team Colossus' success. The aim of the F1 in Schools Competition is to help change young people's perception of science, technology, maths and engineering by creating a fun learning environment in which to develop their understanding.
A2 student Matthew Edwards, who studies Accounting, Economics and Law, achieved a merit award in the Entrance Scholarship Competition for Aberystwyth University. He was awarded £1,000 spending money to be used during his first year of university - Matthew hopes to study law. The competition requires students to sit two exams, of which Matthew scored very highly in.
A2 student Tayla Porter, who studies Biology, Physical Education and Psychology, received a gold medal at the National Trampoline Competition in Coventry for her near-perfect routine.
Congratulations to all of them and thank you for being such excellent ambassadors for the College.
