Young Enterprise team with College governors

On 6 May 2015, our Young Enterprise team ‘Conspiracy’ beat off stiff competition and were crowned Hampshire’s Best Overall Company at the Young Enterprise Final held at The Ordnance Survey Head Office in Southampton. The company also won the award for Best Presentation.

Young Enterprise is the UK’s largest business and enterprise education charity with the aim of helping young people to learn about the world of business. The students’ company, named Conspiracy, has been set up to promote young artistic talent from within the College, particularly those looking to develop their careers in the creative industries.

The team ‘Conspiracy’ members are:

Jack Hardie (Managing Director), Rachel Southgate, Sarah Southwell, Anna Southgate, Charlie Crumpton, Lucy Shearer, Kennedy Robinson, Jessica Kelly, Alanah Kendall and Sophie Gough.

Jack Hardie, Managing Director of Conspiracy said, “We are absolutely delighted to have won the 2015 YE Hampshire Company of the Year. This is a fantastic achievement for the team and something we are all immensely proud of. We have had a lot of support along the way from the College, James Bryant our business advisor and a range of other people for which we are extremely grateful. We have all put a lot of hard work in and are very proud of our achievements.”

James Bryant, business advisor to the team commented, “The competition was tough. The other companies had developed great products, good sales results, splendid stands and all presented well. All the other entrants are to be congratulated both for their hard work and the high quality of their performances on the day.

Having decided that the presentation made in the previous round could be radically improved, the lead was taken by a member of the team who produced an outstanding script. Then the team effort kicked in, polishing and honing the complete package. The judges described the presentation as a, ‘timed to perfection’ performance. We were delighted with the kind comments of the judges and their encouragement for the future.”

Paul Fortescue, Lead Tutor of Young Enterprise said, “It was fantastic to see how well the College team presented on the night – we now look forward to the next round of the competition.”

Conspiracy will now go on to represent Hampshire at the Company Programme Regional Final in Oxford on 16 June 2015.
