On the evening of Wednesday 3 December the College hosted our second Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) Presentation Evening, welcoming students, parents and friends of the College, to see the outstanding work our students have produced.
Students have been working independently for the last six months to produce projects on a variety of topics. Lectures were presented and displays of student work showcased the results of months of research into topics as varied as Literature, Engineering, Sociology and Photography.
The EPQ allows students to extend their abilities beyond the A-level syllabus and prepare for university or their future career. In 2015 the College was delighted to have an 84.9% pass rate.
A2 Students who presented their work on the evening said:
“I really enjoyed doing the EPQ; it gave me a chance to do something completely different to my other subjects and seeing all the people interested in my project at the Presentation Evening made me feel like I've done something really worthwhile.” Jack Smith
“Everybody was very complimentary about my work. I would definitely do it all again if I had the chance.” Henry Smith-Langridge
“Taking part in the EPQ was a very valuable experience. I was able to develop skills in time management to meet deadlines, direct my own project and learn how to use the Harvard Referencing System. It was great to conduct a whole project on something I am really interested in and I gained very positive feedback on my static display on the night.” Katie Mead
Robert Hardy, Curriculum Manager for EPQ at the College added “The Extended Project Qualification is a great opportunity for students to pursue their interests and develop skills beyond the requirements of their 'A' Levels. The presentation evening was a showcase of some incredible work which demonstrates just how much our students can achieve when they pursue their interests with passion and determination.”
