The Prospect Theatre Company 2016

In their final production, the fourteen members of this year’s Prospect Theatre Company, presented a devised piece looking at different character's’ experiences on an average day in a hotel.

The Prospect Theatre Company is made up of second year drama students who take part in addition to their core studies.  To gain a place in the Company students have to audition and demonstrate a variety of skills, so gaining their place is no small feat

Performed in our own Prospect Theatre, this was a show of two halves, with the first having a light hearted mood. After the interval, the tone changed and the actors explored the darker side of the experiences and challenges which we can face throughout our lives.

Emily Tobias, Subject Tutor, drama and theatre studies, explained the concept “We chose the setting of a hotel, as this enabled us to present a variety of people and scenarios.  We endeavoured to explore these characters and portray them without prejudice, leaving the audience to come to their own conclusions.  The styles explored included Physical Theatre, Farce, Naturalism and Post Modernism.” Emily added that “The Company have been great to work with and have very much proved their talent, generosity and dedication throughout the year.  This year in particular the group have been very proactive in taking ownership over their work and so it has been a very organic and inclusive process, which we have all enjoyed being a part of."
