Leading the way in pastoral support, the work of our Health and Wellbeing and Tutorial team has been recognised by AcSEED.
By awarding this quality assurance mark, AcSEED have recognised the emphasis and value that we place on providing mental health and emotional wellbeing services to our students.
The College is very proud to have received this accreditation. Throughout their time here students have the opportunity to talk to a trained counsellor via a free, voluntary and confidential counselling service, giving them the extra support which they might need.
Two trained nurses and a Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator, are also part of our team.
Charlotte Gatherer, founder of the AcSEED Initiative said “AcSEED promotes the adoption of best practices in supporting the emotional wellbeing and mental health of young people in schools and colleges and provides recognition for organisations that satisfy the AcSEED criteria for wellbeing support. The AcSEED assessment team were impressed by the comprehensive wellbeing support and counselling provisions provided by The Sixth Form College Farnborough and are therefore delighted to announce that the College has been accredited with The AcSEED Award."
Claire Basil, Lead Counsellor at the College said “Given the growing awareness and spotlight on teenage mental health, we have worked very hard to provide students with a variety of options to support their emotional wellbeing and mental health.”
Kirsten Halvorsen, Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator at the College added that “We provide education via our tutorial program, workshops on a variety of relevant subjects, face to face counselling via our highly experienced and skilled counselling team and ongoing support via the Health and Wellbeing and Tutorial team. We are very proud to have been awarded the AcSEED accreditation.”
Students who have taken advantage of the range of extra support available at the College have commented that:
“Counselling has helped me get everything into perspective”
“It has given me confidence and helped me learn about myself”
“It taught me to calm down and realise that I am in control of how I’m feeling”
