The Richard Compton Creative Writing Competition, now in its fifth year, was established in memory of Richard Compton, who served as the Clerk of the College’s Corporation from February 1999 until he sadly passed away in October 2010. Richard was a very talented writer, making this student competition the perfect way to celebrate his life and remember his remarkable talent.
This year, awards were presented to the winner and runner-up of the competition by Principal, Simon Jarvis and Peter Eyre, Vice Chairman of the College Corporation. In addition to receiving vouchers, the students were also given a coveted College bear.
Grace Tompkins, a second year student who studies English literature, economics and history, was crowned the winner for her piece with the theme ‘moving on’.
The runner-up was Sarah Garnett, a second year student who studies English literature, biology and chemistry, whose piece was also themed ‘moving on’.
