Student artwork displayed at Tate Modern

As part of the celebrations of the new Switch building opening at the Tate Modern, students were invited to submit their artwork for possible display.  Five of our students were selected and their artwork was projected on screens in the Tate Modern Turbine Hall over the 17, 18 and 19 June 2016.

Four of the selected students, Kelly Roake, Megan Smith, Abigail Pinington and Sania Nadeem are current AS students, and Sol Harding is an A2 student.

Paul Ayres, Curriculum Manager for Fine Art said, "We are very proud of these students in the art department, it is huge achievement to get five different students artwork shown in the Tate!  This is testimony to their hard work, skill and dedication.  To exhibit in such a prestigious building will be fantastic on their cv!"

Current AS student Kelly Roake commented, “I felt proud of my work being displayed in the Tate.  Viewing my work with the other entries was good so I could compare how people interpreted the theme. The atmosphere in the Tate was brilliant, with the live music and others who were selected.”

Current AS student Megan Smith said, “I felt very proud to have been chosen to display my work at the Tate.  When I found out, I was very excited as it is such a great opportunity for all kinds of people to potentially appreciate my work.

I also really enjoyed seeing others work as it encouraged me to explore different kinds of mediums in the future.  I really enjoy studying fine art at Farnborough, as all the teachers are very supportive and teach you how to use more mediums and how to carry out techniques that you could use in your work.  They encourage you to try new things, which is a great help, as you find out where your strengths and weaknesses are.”
