Chris Scott, English Literature Academic - Trinity College Cambridge advises a student about the application process
On Friday 30 September we were delighted to welcome Cambridge University academics to the College as part of their Teaching Tour.
Throughout the afternoon, the academics ran a series of teaching workshops for nearly 100 of our Year 13 Oxbridge applicants on a variety of subjects such as Chemistry, Engineering, English Literature, History, Law, Linguistics, Maths, Medicine, MML, Neuroscience and Physics.
The academics also gave an aspirational talk to almost 200 potential Year 12 applicants, as well as running an Oxbridge Admissions drop-in help desk.
As one of the largest state provider of students to Oxford and Cambridge, this opportunity forms part of our continuing programme to enable any student, with the potential, to be a successful Oxbridge applicant.
Caitlyn de Jode, Schools Liaison Officer for Trinity College Cambridge was so pleased at the “refreshing enthusiasm of the students that took part.” Caitlyn who was, until June, a student herself at Trinity gave 2 talks – 1 to Year 12 students who are only now considering which universities to apply for and another talk to Year 13 students who have already made the decision to apply to Oxbridge. She also ran a drop in clinic answering questions ranging from ‘Is it true that at Cambridge you can’t have a part time job?’ to ‘Do you have any advice for writing my Personal Statement?’
It was an extremely successful afternoon that was enjoyed by all that took part.
