On Tuesday 8 November the College’s photography department welcomed David Hogg, Director of Horizon Imaging.  David came to talk to photography students about using their skills in a business environment.  During the visit David ran two fascinating sessions explaining how he set up his photography business, specialising in architectural and aerial drone photography.

The students were encouraged to explore all of their creative avenues as any number of skills could lead to exciting careers in the future.

David trained as an engineer but spent his free time building his own drones and improving his photographic skills.  Three years ago he left his engineering job and became a full time photographer, offering a unique product for estate agents, architects and hotels, who require professional quality aerial photographs of their buildings or grounds.

Hanno Niemand, Curriculum Manager for photography said “David's friendly and welcoming manner made him very accessible to the students, eager to ask questions about his drone equipment and running a photography business.  Students gained insight into how to apply the skills they have learned from College in a professional environment.”
