The Prospect Theatre stage reverberated to the sounds of howling wolves, runaway steam trains and a ticking grandfather clock as it played host to the College's annual Christmas Production, an adaptation of the popular children’s novel, 'The Wolves of Willoughby Chase'.

Over 40 student actors and 20 technical and back-stage crew formed part of this year's company to mount an ambitious version of the story with moving projections, contemporary ensemble movement, song and dance alongside the more traditional characters and story telling.

The play's dark, gothic undertones were brought chillingly to life with a perfect mixture of ensemble playing, story through song and movement with just the mere hint of some seasonal pantomime-like touches. 

A brilliant cast of actors each took their roles well, adding to the intrigue and dynamic of the story.  There were strong performances in particular from the likes of David Stacey as Lord Willoughby, Lucy Brown as the evil Ms Slighcarp, Hollie Lindon as little Sylvia, Sophie Colclough as the older Bonnie and Josh Townshend as Goose Boy, Simon!  Other cameo performances contributed expertly and fittingly to the unfolding narrative creating one of the most exciting performances of recent times in the Prospect.

Matt Sheppard, Director commented, "I've grown very fond of this year's company who have all distinguished themselves across the project with their dedication, commitment and wide range of performance skills.  This was truly an ensemble effort with all parts contributing in their own individual way." 

Sophie Colclough and Hollie Lindon, who played our heroines, Bonnie and Sylvia both noted, "Doing the play has been such a fantastic experience! Getting to know everyone and working with lots of different people has been such an exciting few months for us.  We've gained a lot of confidence and new skills as performers, and the show was a brilliant production which we are proud to have taken part in."
