Our second year drama and theatre students took three days out from normal lessons to perform their practical exam pieces, the culmination of 12 weeks of hard work, preparation and rehearsal.
Students were tasked with creating an original devised piece using extracts of famous texts. Subject matters ranged from multiculturalism and identity to the way the pressures of social media and modern communication shape the way we perceive the world.
Exciting contemporary texts such as Philip Ridley's 'Ghosts from a Perfect Place' and Dennis Kelly's 'After the End' stretched the students acting skills with Matt Sheppard, Senior Curriculum Manager paying tribute to the hard work and countless extra hours rehearsing the students had put in. "The depth of creative talent is astounding at this college and I have been moved, stunned, delighted and challenged by so much of our young students' powerful and arresting work."
Sophie Colclough, second year student commented, "This devised piece has been both challenging and rewarding. It's so much fun working with other students in a practical way, and the feeling of performing your own work is unparalleled."
Now onto their final written examined component, the students should be incredibly proud of their performance achievements.
