Over 100 students and staff gathered to celebrate the College’s our most successful year of sporting performance at the annual Sports Awards Dinner. A round up of the year was given and awards were presented to teams for outstanding performances. There were also special awards recognising individuals who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to sport.
The evening’s finale was the presentation of awards to students for their truly exceptional achievements in the field of sport:
The London Legacy Award was given to the Cross Country team who once again represented the South East at the National Championships, with the men’s team retaining their winners’ title and the women’s team bringing home silver.
The prestigious Mike Ritchie Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Sport was awarded to the Rugby 7’s team for winning the South East regional tournament and representing the College at the National Championships.
Team of the Year went to the Men’s 1st Football Team who are the English Schools Football Association U18 National Champions.
Maddie Exton and Jackson Brown were crowned Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year.
Maddie has represented the College in the swimming team for two years, reaching National Finals on both occasions. She contributed to the team coming 3rd last year and 4th this year. She has also won the South East regional 100m Fly and Front crawl to then go on to represent at Nationals.
Jackson has been a member of the College hockey team representing for two years in both mixed and men’s. He is also this year’s leading goal scorer and captain as well as having represented the College at cricket for two seasons.
Emma Stephens, Senior Curriculum Manager for PE and sport said, “It was a fantastic evening celebrating so many outstanding achievements in a wide variety of sports. Every team this year has had success, from a newly formed side like women’s rugby beating local rivals to the men’s football team reaching new heights and raising the bar as National Champs.”
