Music Scholars' Concert 2017
Posted on 12 June 2017

The music department held their final Music Scholars’ Concert of the academic year in the historic setting of the Grosvenor Chapel, London. Renowned as one of the premier sacred music venues in London, the chapel, which dates back to the 18th century, is steeped in musical history. It has played host to some of the world’s finest musicians, including the baroque composer G.F Handel. It is also an icon of popular culture, having been used in the opening wedding scene of the British classic ‘Love Actually’.

Putting together a varied programme of solo repertoire, the College’s music scholars once again inspired all present with their supreme musicianship, professionalism and commitment.  Music scholar Emily Morrison said, ‘It was such a privilege to perform in this beautiful and prestigious venue. Everyone seemed really relaxed and performed to such a high standard. I’m so proud to have been part of this inspiring department’.

After the concert Matt Shepherd, Director of Faculty praised the students, ‘This was one of the most profoundly moving concerts I have experienced by college students. The level reached by our scholars is astonishing and we are extremely proud of all that they have achieved and of this wonderful music department. It has been an especial privilege to witness the growth and development of our outgoing scholars over the last two years. They have been outstanding ambassadors of the College and we wish them all the best for their next steps.’
