Memorial Stone at the base of the pear tree

On a lovely mid-summer's day, Wednesday 21 June, we held a memorial service for Stacey Burrows and Lucy Pygott, two first year students who were so tragically killed in a road traffic accident in November.

The ceremony was led by Chloe Pollington, the College chaplain from St Peter's Church in Farnborough and included readings by the Principal, the girls' Personal Tutors and the Student Association’s President, Francesca Davies. Students Molly Beere and guitar accompanist Melissa Jaspar provided moving renditions of Fields of Gold and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

The simple service on the College sports field took place in front of a newly planted pear tree which will be enjoyed by many generations of students to come, blossoming each year to remind us of new life and hope.  A memorial stone, carved and donated by local stonemason Andy Raitt, provides a lasting reminder of the part Lucy and Stacey played in the life of the College.
