Stuart Bernard speaking to the group
98 first year CTEC digital media students discovered what it is like to be a documentary maker in a seminar with producer and director, Stuart Bernard.
The highlight of the seminar was the screening of ‘24 Hours in A&E’, one of the students’ exam case studies and also a piece produced and directed by Stuart. He was able to give students insight into how the episode was filmed and edited and explained the complexities of producing the popular series. Course representative Callum Jones asked questions about the logistics of producing the programme and how stories were selected from the vast amount of footage.
Stuart commented on how impressed he was with the questions asked and the enthusiasm students had for documentary making. Rachel Beasley, Curriculum Manager for CTEC digital media said, “This was an invaluable experience, particularly for those students who wish to pursue a career within the media industry. Stuart gave an engaging presentation and his work is truly inspiring. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from an expert who has risen to success in a competitive world.”
