An enthusiastic audience was treated once again to a magnificent evening of music-making, as Chamber Orchestra and Big Band accompanied us on an eclectic journey celebrating many great works inspired by the United States of America.

From Barber to Gershwin, Poulenc to Reich and a bit of ‘Psycho’ thrown in for good measure, Chamber Orchestra wowed the audience with their performance of these challenging works.

Having spent time in America, it was fitting that French composer Poulenc should also be included in the programme.  Clarinettist Ella Sehringer who played his piece said, “These concerts are always a delight and playing Poulenc to such an appreciative audience was a wonderful experience.”

The second half ramped up the tempo with Big Band and foot tapping standards such as ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’, ‘New York, New York’, and the theme from ‘Sesame Street’. 

As well as being the soloist in Chamber Orchestra’s performance of ‘Orange Coloured Sky’, second year student Molly Beere sang in the Jazz ensemble.  Molly said, “Being part of a group like ‘Just in Time’ has added so much to my College experience. The performance opportunities I have been given not just at College events, but external venues as well, is wonderful. I'm looking forward to performing during the upcoming trip to Paris in December!”
