Students from the music department inspired a 100-strong audience at St Eligius Church, Arborfield with a varied programme of works drawn from the 18th to the 21st centuries. The fundraising concert, in aid of a variety of the Church's charitable causes, attracted an audience from across the area and showcased the remarkable talents of the College’s students.
Finnish concert organiser Dr Rita Le Var arranged a programme to celebrate the Centenary of Finland’s Independence, occurring on the same day. Audience members dressed in their national costume and students lead the singing of ‘Maamme’, the Finnish National Anthem – in Finnish! Rita commented that this rousing theme brought a tear her eye! She continued, “We are very grateful we have been able to enjoy high quality music performed so willingly. Thank you for a most enjoyable concert!”
Speaking after the concert, Harry White, Curriculum Manager for music performance said, "Arborfield is a highly respected and well attended concert society and we have enjoyed many years of outstanding recitals there. It has always proved a warm, receptive home for our students, giving them an invaluable performance experience."
