Student Association Elections 2018/19
Posted on 18 May 2018

The votes have been counted and verified and the new Student Association (SA) for the next academic year, 2018/19 has been announced.

The SA is elected by the student body every year to represent the views of our students.  The President and Vice President sit on the Academy Quality Council and attend regular meetings to have a real say on the future direction of the College. The SA also organise fundraising events such as RAG Week and Fresher’s Fayre.

Students put themselves forward to be on the committee and those who want to be the President have been campaigning for several weeks, including taking part in a debate and releasing a campaign video. The student body vote online to decide who they want to represent them for the year ahead.

Assistant Principal, Rebecca Rhodes hosted the event and the outgoing President and Vice President announced their successor to the audience in a packed Café Direct.  The results were as follows:

President – Chloe Williams

Vice President – James Barber

Chloe said of the experience, “The election process has been an amazing journey and I am honoured that at the end of it, I can represent the students and the College as the new SA President. Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”

The rest of the committee will be made up of the following members:

Elspeth Day, Saleem Kaa, Katherine Kerr, Joseph Barzey, Sameer Mazhar, Sophie Rossiter, Chloe Smith, Bethany Jordan, Sayful Wakil and Jonathan Woodbridge.

The newly elected SA will be working alongside the current SA over the next few weeks to allow a thorough handover and be taking part in training sessions with key members of College staff.
