Student’s ‘Desk Pedal’ triumphs
Posted on 20 February 2019

Congratulations to first year graphic design student, Emily Knevett, who recently won a design competition organised by Accent Office Interiors.  Accent, based in the UK, are a design company who focus on creating exceptional workspaces for businesses with a client base that includes world renowned companies Estee Lauder, Savills and Yamaha.

The competition was launched back in December 2018 with the brief, “to design a piece of office furniture or a concept that every office will need in the future.”

The company were overwhelmed by the applications they received and the imagination of all those who entered, but Emily had the winning design of a Desk Pedal, a concept that incorporates exercise for workers at their desks who have a more sedentary lifestyle.  You can view Emily’s winning design here.

The interior design experts at Accent commented, “Emily’s way of thinking really connected with Accent, who value innovating away from typical modes of working and changing norms of workplace design."

Emily, who also studies business and media at the College, commented, "Thank you so much to Accent Office Interiors for liking my work - it was fun to create and I am grateful to have been chosen!"

As well as Emily’s design being featured on Accent’s website, she will also receive a state of the art Wacom Pen Tablet – congratulations to Emily!
