The College recently hosted its sixth annual Training, Employment and Apprenticeship (TEA) Fair. This recruitment event gives students the opportunity to speak to an array of training providers, employers and organisations who value and provide training and development for their employees. With over 65 exhibitors and more than 1,600 students in attendance, it continues to be a key event in the College’s careers programme.
The event provides progression opportunities for those students opting not to go to university, whilst kick-starting the first year tutorial progression topics where students begin to explore their future options. Some students wonder whether apprenticeships are the appropriate progression route for their future, and this event ensures they have a chance to find out directly from those delivering and recruiting for apprenticeship programmes.
Exhibitors ranged from accounting to care providers, engineering to IT and retail to sport. With numerous sectors and career pathways on offer, students were able to apply for vacancies and gain invaluable advice on CVs, interviews and recruitment processes directly from the employers themselves. Some students even secured work experience placements!
Laura Wakefield, Employability Coordinator for the College and organiser of the Fair, was delighted with the event. ‘’This year’s TEA Fair was a great opportunity for all our students. Feedback from students and exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive and we look forward to seeing positive outcomes for our students.”
Exhibitor Leah Dunne-Kealy, Resourcing Business Partner for Bupa UK People Team said, “We had a fantastic day at the College’s TEA Fair. It was very well organised, and the engagement and enthusiasm we received from the students was very refreshing! Thank you for allowing us to attend such a great day.’’
