Just before the Easter break, the Student Association hosted the College’s annual Raising and Giving (RAG) Week. This week is a chance for students to enjoy days packed with activities but is also an opportunity to raise money for national and international charities. This year, funds raised will be donated to Water Aid, War Child, Guide Dogs, and British Divers Marine Life Conservation.
Throughout the week, the SA sold freshly made popcorn, candyfloss, pick 'n' mix and, back by popular demand, Krispy Kreme donuts, which sold out very quickly. There was also music playing in the Quad and Live Lunches in Cafe Direct, where College bands treated the audience to original songs. Raffle tickets were also on sale all week, where students had the chance of winning £200 worth of prizes!
On Wednesday, there was a student vs student basketball game and an ESports match both with a 'donation to watch' fee, and on Thursday, SA Vice President, James Barber, hosted a live version of 'Take Me Out' with some help from the College Tutor Reps.
The week culminated in a visit from the charity Guide Dogs, who brought along a number of working, retired and in-training guide dogs. Students could make a donation to the charity and then spend a few minutes meeting and greeting the dogs.
Special mention goes to students Olaf Madej and Sameer Mazhar, who walked to College from Bracknell on Thursday morning, to raise money for War Child - well done to both of them.
RAG Week 2019 was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who made a donation and well done to all those who put the week’s activities together. Watch this space for the total amount raised.
