At the beginning of March teams of year 7 students from Cove School, Frogmore Community College and The Wavell School came to the College to present their plans for an eco-friendly theme park as part of Ecoland 2019.
Ecoland is a competition has been running since 2014. It aims to provide a stretch and challenge opportunity for year 7 students from schools in the Rushmoor & Hart area.
As part of the challenge, they had to produce a promotional film, make models of the rides and present it all to an assembled audience.
The judges, second year students Lewis, Liberty and Annabel, who are all studying environmental science at the College, were blown away by the standard of entries this year. They were particularly impressed with the effort taken to make the theme park sustainable in terms of energy use. The hard work that had gone into the entries was clear to see.
The winners were team ‘Ecove Pioneers’ from Cove School. The judges were particularly impressed with their promotional film which made good use of music to raise excitement for their proposals, and featured a computer simulation of the rides they had designed. The team put forward a range of innovative ideas regarding energy generation including anaerobic digestion to make use of food waste.
Well done to everyone who took part.
