Coppers presents ‘Beauty and the Beast’
Posted on 10 May 2019

Coppers Award, a partnership between Henry Tyndale and the College recently presented their production of 'Beauty and the Beast’. This student-led production incorporated song and dance that transported the audience to a magical fairy tale world, which tells the story of the blossoming friendship between Belle and the Beast.

'Coppers' is a long standing project providing an exciting and rewarding partnership for our students and Henry Tyndale School students.  Students sign up for either lunchtime arts and crafts activities, or for a lesson where they learn and rehearse song and dance routines, culminating in a dazzling performance at the end of the Spring term. The Henry Tyndale students work under the direction of Year 13 student leaders, who are responsible for all aspects of the show including script writing, choreography, stage direction and costumes. The students learn invaluable lessons about teamwork, leadership and commitment.

Zoe Mills and Alice Fisher, Leaders of Coppers Award and Copper Link commented, “We are so proud of the Coppers students involved in the Beauty and the Beast production. The show was packed with fun, laughter and a few tears were shed as the curtain closed after the finale. The blooming friendship between Beauty and the Beast reflected that of the close friendships formed between Farnborough students and their Henry Tyndale buddies.”

Maddy Truin, Coppers Award Student Leader said, Both the Farnborough and Henry Tyndale students have worked really hard over the past year to make this the best show yet. We started in September by playing games and making new friends before working every week to learn songs, dance moves and the script. On the show day, everyone came together and performed better than they ever have before! Myself and the other leaders are very proud of everyone who took part as we couldn’t have done it without them and I hope that everyone who took part will remember the fun we had for years to come. We would also like to say thank you to all staff involved from both Farnborough and Henry Tyndale.”

Amy Griffiths, Coppers Award Student Leader commented, ‘’It’s been really lovely to watch the students at Henry Tyndale grow in confidence. They did so well in the recent performance of Beauty and the Beast and seeing their smiles whilst dancing on stage was definitely a highlight! I will be very sad not to be part of this incredible project next year but I can’t wait to come back and see the show.”
