The annual Sports Awards Dinner took place at the beginning of May with over 90 students and staff gathering to celebrate another successful year of sporting performance at the College.
A round up of the year was given and awards were presented to each team for their outstanding performances. There were also special awards recognising those individuals who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to sport.
Team of the Year went to the women’s basketball team who won the Association of Colleges National Championships in April at the University of Nottingham.
The evening’s finale was the presentation of awards to students for their truly exceptional achievements in the field of sport:
The prestigious Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year awards were won by second year students, Fredrica Hempson and Robert Jervis.
Fredrica has represented the College basketball team for two years. In her second year she captained the team to their national success.
Robert has been a member of the College hockey team for two years in both mixed and men’s. He was this season's captain leading the men’s side to the National Cup Finals and the mixed to the Semi-Finals. Rob was also part of the mixed team that were National Cup Champions in his first year at College.
Emma Stephens, Senior Curriculum Manager for PE and sport at the College said, “It was a fantastic evening celebrating so many outstanding achievements in a wide variety of sports. We had some new successes this year with teams gaining achievements that have not been done before.”
Congratulations to all the students involved- what a fantastic year for sport!
