At the beginning of October, the year 12 geography students all visited West Wittering and got their first taste of A level fieldwork. They braved the strong winds, and some heavy rain, to explore sand dunes, a spit and a salt marsh to learn about how the area is managed sustainably.
The purpose of the visit was not only to see the area, but was an opportunity for the students to learn fieldwork techniques such as dune and beach profiles and vegetation transects that some may go on to utilise in their NEA (Geography coursework) at the end of year 12. In spite of the challenging conditions, all the students worked well and learned a lot from the visit.
