The first year BTEC performing arts students recently took part in their first performance exam in front of a packed Prospect Theatre.
This year’s theme focused on the new Moulin Rouge musical that has had an extremely successful opening on Broadway. Moulin Rouge is set in Paris during the turn of the 20th century and follows the story of a young composer who falls in love with a cabaret actress. It was a fun and lively evening full of fantastic choreographic pieces which were choreographed by the students themselves. All of the dances were beautifully performed by the students with such passion, story-telling and emotion.
Emily Southwell, Curriculum Manager for BTEC performing arts said, “This evening was a true testament to the dedication and hard work the students have shown in this first term. They moved us again and again with their emotive pieces.”
Matt Sheppard, Director for Teaching and Quality commented, “It was a magnificent evening of movement by this year's BTEC Performing Arts performance exam group. The creative ideas behind each piece, many influences from Music Hall to Burlesque begins their journey here at the College in an impressive manner. Thank you to all the staff involved, from the teachers to the theatre technicians, who guided the students and helped their ideas come to life.”
