Congratulations to the Director of Progression and careers team at the College who recently won the Sixth Form Colleges Association Enrichment and Employability (SFCA) Award!
The SFCA is the established voice of dedicated sixth form education and the hub of a national network of sixth form providers. The Awards, which are held annually, provide a platform to identify, celebrate and reward outstanding practice by colleges and individuals across the sector. There were seven award categories this year which included ‘Community Impact’, ‘Health and Wellbeing’ and ‘Enrichment and Employability’.
Mark Rayner and the ‘Prospects’ team were nominated for the Award by Principal, Catherine Cole, for their outstanding employability work, which ensures our students leave the College equipped with the skills they need for their next steps, whatever they may be!
Over the course of the last five years, Mark and the ‘Prospects’ team has taken ‘Employability’ from a small branch of the Tutorial programme to a core part of the College curriculum. The amazing work they have done includes the creation of the ‘Prospects Diploma’, an innovative series of 12 high impact taught sessions that focus on employability, including transferable skills, selling yourself and employment law. The College holds the Quality in Careers Standard, and has evidenced all eight of the Careers & Enterprise Company’s Gatsby Benchmarks.
Congratulations to all the other sixth form colleges who were nominated and received awards – we look forward to the SFCA Awards 2021!
