Throughout July, The Sixth Form College Association (SFCA) held their online art exhibition which featured artwork created by sixth form students from across the country.
The SFCA represents all designated sixth form colleges and 16-19 academies in England, as well as a growing number of FE colleges and 16-19 free schools.
This year’s theme for the online exhibition was ‘Planet Future’ with each institution having to submit three entries. This meant that Farnborough’s art departments had to select three pieces from across the four disciplines (Fashion and Textiles, Fine Art, Graphic Design and Photography) – a very difficult task!
Congratulations to the three students who were selected:
Aimee Thomas said, “I am honoured to have been selected for this exhibition and delighted that my work has been appreciated. I am really proud of this piece of work as it ties all my interests and passions together - it makes it even more exciting that it featured in the SFCA exhibition.”
Ella Hollingworth commented, “My image shows what I imagine the inside of the mind to look like when experiencing a depressive episode or a period of time where perception and reality keep changing.”
J Haylor said, “When thinking of ideas for this piece, I aimed to be optimistic and focus on the amazing things in store for our future, such as advancements in technology and a more progressive and socially accepting world. Due to being on the brink of a climate crisis, which is becoming more prevalent every day, I kept returning to a more pessimistic view of our future. My submission is a double entendre of an optimistic future versus the future of the planet if we continue to act the way that we do.”
Paul Ayres, Curriculum Manager for Fine Art, commented, “This is such a fantastic competition and the students have worked so hard on their submissions; well done to all three students for getting their work accepted!”
