The College recently held a grand opening of the new Wellbeing Centre to coincide with World Mental Health Day.

The new facility, which has been several years in the making, boasts four fantastic purpose-built counselling rooms for students, as well as a relaxing waiting area.

Counselling is one of the most important support mechanisms that we offer to our student body here at the College.  All students are offered the opportunity to access one to one counselling as well as wellbeing coaching throughout their time at Farnborough.  Our Counselling team is made up of experts who work with students on a regular basis to help them with any issues they may have.  The team currently works with around 500 students every year and unfortunately this number is growing – this new facility will allow the team to expand the support they offer to those who need it.

Principal, Catherine Cole, welcomed guests to the grand opening and explained how vital the College’s Counselling Service is.  Attendees of the event included College staff, members of The Prospect Trust, the Mayor of Rushmoor, and the Chief Executive and founders of The AcSEED Initiative.

Claire Basil, Lead Counsellor and Counselling Service Co-ordinator said, ”We are extremely proud of the counselling provision available at the College.  Young people being able to access free, confidential talking therapy has been at the heart of the development of our wellbeing provision.  It also demonstrates the College’s approach to supporting the whole student - not just academically but with their mental health as well.  We now have a permanent, purpose built facility that students have already said feels professional but therapeutic.

Catherine Cole commented “Having a new facility to help young people at the College is wonderful. It will mean so much to the counsellors who support the students here. This kind of emotional support is vital if the students are to access the outstanding teaching that we offer.”
