The Sixth Form College Farnborough

We are delighted to announce that the report from our most recent Ofsted inspection is now available to read here

Farnborough is one of  the first sixth form colleges in the country to be graded under Ofsted’s new inspection framework which was launched in November 2025.

We are very proud of our new report card that shows that we were awarded ‘exceptional’ in five out of eight categories and as ‘strong standard’ in the remaining three.

In the new report card system, traditional single-word grades have been replaced with descriptive categories designed to give a fairer, deeper look at a college's performance:

  • Exceptional: Only awarded when inspectors see practice that is among the very best nationally, which should be shared to help other providers improve.
  • Strong Standard: Marks out excellent, consistent work that makes a real difference for learners.

This is an exceptional report which we believe is truly representative of our College and demonstrates how we absolutely deliver on our College mission to ‘to be a distinguished provider of the highest quality education, enriching the lives of all students within a lively, caring community and enabling all to develop the skills to meet the demands of a changing world with confidence.’

Being one of the earliest Colleges to be inspected on the new framework makes it difficult to do a direct comparison with other providers in the local area. However, in reading our report you will get a sense of how highly the Inspection team regarded our provision, their comments include: "Students are inspired to be their best because of the excellent teaching they receive, the fantastic enrichment activities in which they participate and the full wraparound support staff provide. Students enjoy greatly their college experience, the welcoming communities of people they meet and friends they make. They are confident, ambitious, highly motivated and ready for what they want to do next."

The report goes on to comment that: "Students grow in character, develop their identities and widen their horizons during their time at college. This is because leaders and staff create a very welcoming college, where students are encouraged to be themselves, meet new people and try new things, preparing them very well for university, training or employment."

The Sixth Form College Farnborough is proud to be a fantastic choice for post-16 studies, and we want to thank all of our incredible staff, students, and community members for making this achievement possible.
