Culture Day 2023
Posted on 15 June 2023

Last month The Sixth Form College Farnborough was awash with bright colours, national flags, and smiling faces as we celebrated our cultural diversity.

We were treated to a vibrant and moving display of music and dance from a selection of talented students, which included an impactful moving solo dhol drum performance, graceful Nepalese dancing, and a beautiful Kosovan folk song and a moving dance originating from Afghanistan.

Clapping and cheering could be heard across the campus as students then took to a “catwalk” to display and celebrate their wonderful clothes and to hold up their national flags.

The following day saw a student-run cultural fair in The Greenhouse, where visiting students sampled food such as panu puri, nimki and pierogi ukrainskie and were offered henna tattoos, Turkish coffee and hair flower decorations.

We would like to extend our gratitude to our performers, stallholders, the Student Union (who worked tirelessly to organise both days), and to our wonderful College catering team who produced an array of foods from around the world for the international food stall.

Last, but not least, thank you to everyone who supported the event by cheering and clapping our performers / catwalkers, as well as those who sampled food and took part in the activities. The enthusiasm, unity and moral support shown on both days was an inspiration to us all.
