Our talented music students in action
To celebrate 100 years of Disney, all three academies from the Prospect Trust came together for an evening of live music.
Starting with the newly-formed Close Harmony group from The Sixth Form College Farnborough, the tone for the evening was set with their pitch perfect performance of ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’. Other college ensemble performances include the Big Band’s jazzy rendition of Beauty And The Beast, Chamber Choir’s haunting version of When She Loved Me, from Toy Story 2 and I See The Light from Tangled, performed by our orchestra.
“As a first year student, I found that the Disney concert helped me talk to new people and become friends with lots of first and second year students. It was a great atmosphere with everybody supporting each other and it helped me to branch out to the different ensembles the music department put together.” - Carlos Gorostidi-Turner, A Level Music Technology & BTEC Music Performance student
Following this, singers from Frimley Church Of England primary school took to the stage, blowing the audience away with their powerful voices and choreographed moments as they sang ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from Moana as well as ‘I Just Can’t Wait To Be King’ from The Lion King. One of the students from Frimley Church of England said “This has been the best night ever”.
Before a short interval, the spotlight shone on Valentina from Frimley Church Of England as she sang ‘Reflection’ from Mulan.
“What an absolute pleasure it was for our children to be involved in the very first trust-wide concert. To be part of something that showcased talent across our academies, was a wonderful opportunity and so inspiring for our young singers.” - Abi Cronin, Choir Leader, Frimley Church of England
After a short interval, Tomlinscote students, Isobel Ellement and Katie Moustastos took to the stage, performing a harmonious duet of ‘A Whole New World’ from Aladdin. The Tomlinscote choir, led by Vicky Wilcox, also performed two tracks. ‘Show Yourself’ from Frozen was the first song of the two, accompanied by a student pianist and drummer, followed by an uplifting rendition of ‘Try Everything’ from Zootopia.
The final collaboration song was a perfect end to the concert. Over 100 students combined from Tomlinscote School, Frimley Church of England and The Sixth Form College Farnborough with the Contemporary Voices band to sing ‘We’re All In This Together’ from High School Musical. Amongst a sea of students, a variety of Disney accessories could be spotted from a Stitch hoodie and shiny pom poms to an assortment of bedazzled mouse ears.
“It was a completely magical and enchanting evening for all. The music was captivating and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the collaborative performances.” - Maisie Richards, Studio Manager, The Sixth Form College Farnborough
