Our winning teams
The Sixth Form College Farnborough once again represented the South East region in the 44th AoC National Championships, which were held recently at the University of Nottingham. This year all of the South East Women's Badminton Team were Farnborough students.
Lila Dundas, Ruby Clarke and Connie Vooght came away with the overall gold medal winning all of their matches over three days of tough competition. We also had one men's cross country athlete, Ollie Russell, who competed in the men's individual and team events.
Ollie came away with a fantastic 3rd place result in the men's race and he was the first male runner out of all of the South East team to cross the line. The South East men's team came second overall. In the team relay event (3 men/ 3 women running a 1km circuit each), they achieved second place.
The Sixth Form College Farnborough are fully supportive of the AoC sport competitions and in the past we have had basketball, tennis and table tennis finalists attend from the College.
There have been further sporting successes this year with the College women's hockey team winning the AoC National Cup final on the 1st May. In a very tense final held at the University of Birmingham against Peter Symonds College, we held on to a 2-0 lead with the game finishing 2-1 to Farnborough. This is the first time Farnborough have won this trophy and was a fitting end to an amazing season. What an achievement for the girls and coach Alison Black.
We look forward to celebrating all of our sportsmen and sportswomen at our Annual Sports Award event.
