SIXFEST 2024
Posted on 23 September 2024

SIXFEST’, the College’s biggest annual music festival returned to the stage of the Prospect Theatre for an exhilarating jammed-packed night of music. This year saw the largest set and lighting design to date, featuring two stages and 24 performers across the entirety of the evening. In total, £800 was raised for this year’s student selected charity - P.A.C.T (Parents And Children Together).

The thrilling music event exhibiting some of the College’s finest upcoming musical talent was coordinated by student teams from across the college and staff from the Music Technology department. The festival sold out twice over, and promoted a diverse range of genres across the two stages; the acoustic stage exhibited everything from japanese pop, singer-songwriter ballads to acoustic folk, whilst the main stage displayed everything from lively ska, melodious jazz, fun-filled pop through to heavier tones of grunge and energetic rock music. The musicians that performed across the evening conveyed skillful professionalism and charisma, including many of the bands and solo artists performing their own original material which they had recently written, recorded and released.

Maisie Richards, Recording Studio Manager and Co-Festival Organiser, added, “SIXFEST 2024 demonstrates what a thriving and diverse musical community we have at the College; It’s a fantastic experience for the students and everyone really enjoyed themselves. All of the musicians were so professional and talented, writing and performing to the standard that they are at this age. I even heard one of the audience members comment that ‘this is better than Reading Festival’. It really was an incredible night of music - I’m very proud of everyone who made this year’s festival a huge success.”

Keep an eye out for future SIXFEST events!
