A montage from the evening
Our music department recently held an Ensembles Concert in the Prospect Theatre. The chamber choir, chamber orchestra, big band, contemporary voices and close harmony came together to put on a fantastic show of music with a wide variety of musical numbers and styles.
Big Band kicked the evening off with the wonderfully jazzy soundtrack to The Incredibles. The audience were treated to a beautiful Lullaby (Billy Joel) from the chamber choir while Close Harmony showed off their chops with an acapella version of Africa (David Paich and Jess Porcaro).
The evening ended off with Come Alive from the Greatest Showman which was a truly inspiring way to end the concert. Other performances included solos by student Natalie, Second Year who played Tchaikovsky’s Barcarolle and the music department’s resident jazz band, Chameleon who performed Tank! By Yoko Kanno.
We had pieces demonstrating the delicacy, peace, majesty and joy of music - a big
well done to all involved!
Here’s what some of the students had to say about the concert:
Tharuli, First Year Student said “It was such an amazing experience. I was able to make new friendships by taking part in the experience. I absolutely enjoyed the whole experience very much!”
Noah, Second Year student reflected on the evening “I think that it went very well. It is always an entertaining evening with an incredible array of music and musicians to create an evening of performances. Hearing the incredible talent of the musicians in the college is always a treat and I
always can't wait for the next concert”
