Christmas Concert 2024
Posted on 10 January 2025

All of our community came together

This year our music department held its annual Christmas Concert in our very own Prospect Theatre.

While the venue was different, with previous years’ concerts being held in a cathedral, the energy, talent and festive spirit was by no means lessened and our talented students were still able to create a truly beautiful and joyous Christmas celebration for all to enjoy.

Performances included 'A Christmas Carol' sung by the Chamber Choir, a piece composed
and arranged by our very own Head of Music, Stuart McSweeney. The Chamber Orchestra
brought a delightful air of nostalgia to the evening with their performance of 'Somewhere in
my Memory' from Home Alone while the Music Department’s resident Jazz Band,
Chameleon, had everyone tapping their feet along to a 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'
medley, arranged by talented Liam, second year Music A Level student.

We are so very proud of our students as each and every ensemble came together to create
a wonderful celebration of not only Christmas, but the students’ talent, hard work and
dedication throughout the term.

Here’s what a few students had to say about the evening:

Scarlett: “It was really amazing watching so many talented people showcase how hard they’ve
worked to perform such an enjoyable concert. I particularly enjoyed watching the small student
groups, they were really great!”

Kerenza: “I absolutely loved it. Everything ran smoothly, and it was amazing to have the groups all amongst each other, with different groups performing each time, as it meant we all got the excitement of hearing somebody/ something new!”

Hannah: “I enjoyed watching the other ensembles perform and how everyone was a part of the
performance no matter who was playing/singing.”
