A montage of images from Farnborough Introducing
The annual Farnborough Introducing event took place in May: a vibrant showcase of musical talent, bringing together an eclectic mix of genres, from soulful classics to bold contemporary originals.
The evening opened with the infectious funk of Kris Berg’s Fowl Play, performed by our Big Band, setting the tone for a night that celebrated both musical heritage and bold innovation. From the soaring emotion of At Last by Etta James, performed by student, Erin, to the contemporary cool of Royals (Lorde) and the spiritual power of Swing Low, performed by our Contemporary Voices and Chamber Choir respectively, performers embraced each song with heart, style, and undeniable talent.
Standout moments included a stirring rendition of Bob Chilcott’s Jazz Mass by the Chamber Choir, the brilliance of Close Harmony’s rendition of This Is The Moment (Jekyll & Hyde), and the raw vocal power behind Loving You by Minnie Riperton, performed by BTEC Music Performance student, Lily.
With interviews peppered throughout, courtesy of our wonderful compéres Heidi and Ollie, and powerful arrangements that resonated with the audience, Farnborough Introducing proved to be a fresh, dynamic celebration of the College’s ever-evolving musical spirit.
A quote from a spectator and parent: “The incredibly high level of virtuosity was something to behold, but I feel that what makes it a real joy is to see the enthusiasm and fun being had by the students. It really is infectious. It’s also a joy to see the support your students show towards each other”
