The Media and Film Departments recently hosted an event to discuss accessing careers within the creative industries. Students met with representatives from businesses and also government to discuss the challenges and the best way to address them. We were were delighted to welcome Alex Baker (MP for Aldershot), Martina Porter (AllSpringMedia) and Kate Vaisey (VFX and Post Production Executive) for the roundtable discussion.
The highly productive conversation covered everything from work experience and CV writing to developing ideas for projects in which students can contribute to the local area.
"Networking with industry partners and local stakeholders sounds rather high brow" said Nic Franklin (CM for A Level Media Studies) "but really it's about seeking relationships and partnership with like minded people, understanding what our students want to do for their career and supporting their aspirations. It was wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic the students were about this unique opportunity".
